question on airline baggage safety?

hi
whenever you travel in international flights or any domestic flights in US…i see that usually airlines allow two suticases to be checked in and one bag as carry-in into the flight…but, after i checkin my two suitcases,i seee that they just tag it and put it the the rollers that takes it to the loading section and then they check my carry-in thoroughly before letting me into the aircraft..

but my question is,why is that they are not checking the checked in suitcases thoroughly…per my understanding, the checked in baggages will be loaded in the same flight as the persons…so if thats the case,when do they check the checked in suitcases….am concered about the airlines safety here

A question about airline tickets from someone who is new to air travl, is there something wrong with my ticket

In a few days I have to make an international flight and I’m very new to air travel. For the first time ever in my life I’ve bought an airline ticket, I booked a flight very early and got the ticket like two months before the flight date.

Now here’s the problem, the people at the destination where I’m going to asked me to check the flight number and time of my arrival there. I checked the ticket; it has the time of departure and flight number of the first plane. I have to make a stop and change planes at Dubai; it has the arrival time for Dubai. BUT for the second flight number and arrival time to my final destination its written VOID.

so i plan to travel next year like in december..so i want to know if i can buy and airline ticket 1 year ahead and if i buy it online or at the travel agency do i have to pay all to amount of the ticket in order to reserve the ticket or i can do payments…???

Honeymoon Travel question?

I’ve had a hell of a time dealing with my airline. They put the reservation under my fiancee’s last name for both of us because I told them it was a honeymoon. However my name wont be changed on anything by then(passport, liscense ect) Will this be a problem? I can bring my marriage certificate? Is that all I need?
Fizzy: Thats what I tried to do, but the airline told me they are not legally allowed to change the name on the ticket and the only way to do it is to cancel those tickets and re-book. My dad used his frequent flyer miles for this and if we try to re-book there may not be any seats left! plus we lose the 300 dollars in processing fees and such
newbride, yeah I don’t get it at all…I’m sure people change it all the time but they’re saying changing a spelling is totally different than actually changing the last name

She is 400 plus pounds and had to cancel her reservations for united because of there too fat to fly policy. This is a sensitive area so if u have negative feed back don’t bother but are there any airlines who don’t have this policy?

Air travel question ?

Guess the “travel” time from JFK (New York) to Perth, Australia if you book it the long route? (answer below)… My wife Dot and I are starting a Home Travel Agency. We are joining a very large outfit that deals with folks like us who want a home business. I used to work for TWA (Trans World Airlines) 25 years. Before they were sold to American. My job was International reservations for flights, tours, and cars. One day I was playing around with the computer and (at the time) found 25 different airfares between New York City and Los Angeles. Reason being a person can naturally fly non-stop or change flights thru many-many different cities (called “connecting” flights). You can also combine 2 different discount fares and fly “back to back” (Let’s use a make believe fare for an example) Let’s say a normal coach ticket New York to Los Angeles is $500. But, if we combine a New York “discount” $150 route to St. Louis, Mo. (change our own bag’s or better yet have a small carry on bag) and pick up a $200 St. Louis to Los Angeles trip. Yea-yea I know some of you are saying, “Hey, blah-blah-blah !!!” OKAY GANG how about the person who flys “EVERYWEEK” ??? Or every 2 weeks? Let’s say Mr. Fly-every-week work’s that job for 20 years ? Hey kid’s… NOW WE’ER TALKING $156,000 OF OUR PRETEND MONEY GOING DOWN THE DRAIN !!!!!
All of you can call the airlines and get real money if you want. My point is, I just want to show you folks how to save money. Yes, sometimes fares are around for a short period of time. One time TWA had a $33 special St. Louis to Chicago one way for about a month. Now I’m not supposed to ask for your business here in Yahoo Answers… BUT… I can help a “new” friend with travel information if he or she has an up and coming trip they need help with. My e-mail address is attached to this… what ever it is. All I need is your dates of travel to & from and a list of towns your going to with how much time at each stop. I figure if I can help make your trip a bit better thats half the game won. Your going to find as you call around to different airlines and travel agents (say maybe 10 or 15 or so) your going to feel like you just dug a hole 30′ x 50′ and 20′ deep in your back yard. Some of those agent’s can really mess up your head !!!! (Phew-phew !!) >>>> The answer to the question on top is… 39 hours 55 minutes !

An airplane flew with the wind for 1.5 hours and returned the same distance against the wind in 2.5 hours. If the cruising speed of the plane was a constant 232 mph in air, how fast was the wind blowing?

Hint, if the wind speed is r miles per hour, and the plan travels at (232 + r) mph with the wind and (232 – r) mph against the wind

Here is a good tough question for me traveling alone.?

For prices ranging between $600-$900 USD.
In the Months of November 2009,March,April or May 2010.
Departing round trip by flight or cruise out of anywhere in NY.
Seems like a hard match but I think its possible with all the deals going on.A cruise seems more likely because of the all inclusiveness with meals and interior rooms but air fare is getting cheap so maybe there are some good plans for that.Thanks for any responses.
