Philippine passport (3 months to expire before travel)?

Hi,

I am in the US and I am traveling to the Philippines this coming December 2008 and returning January 2009.
My passport is due to expire on March 2009.
I cannot have it renewed now because it takes 6 weeks and I’m leaving before I can get my new passport.
The embassy suggested that they write a letter to the airline that I should be granted entry to the Philippines and that I should renew my passport as soon as I get there. I called the airline and they said that they will make a note on my reservation but there is not guarantee.
What should I do?

Italian officials took the hijackers into custody but Abu Abbas possessed a get-out-of-jail card: an Iraqi diplomatic passport. Do I need a passport card or book to travel to Mexico by sea in October 2008?

Has anyone traveled on a cruise to the Western Caribbean with just a birth certificate and driver’s license lately? I think people can still do this until June 2009. Is this true?

The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.

CURRENTLY:
U.S. citizens need to present either (a) a passport, passport card (available in spring 2008), or WHTI-compliant document; or (b) a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.
LATER:
On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document.

Someone told me that a kid less than 15 years old (US citizen) can travel with a birth certificate and that the US passport is not required? We are going in a cruise to Bahamas. Is that information right?

Is a passport required when traveling to Mexico and Western Carribean by Sea?

I have heard so many different answers to this from friends!!!! I understand that if by air, I will need one as on Jan.2007. If By SEA, (cruise), I will not need one until Jan. 2008. I am traveling in April 2007 so I am under the impression that I will not need one. Can anyone out there clarify this for me???????? Thanks so much!!

Do I need a passport to travel into Mexico as of Jan. 20?

I am going on a cruise and I believe the laws vary depending on whether you are traveling by air or by land/sea. My cruise is from Jan.20-26 into Mexico. Do I need a passport? If so, what is the quickest way to get one? Thank you!
