How can we plan a great honeymoon for less than $2000?

My fiance and I need to find a way to plan an inexpensive honeymoon. I think we could come up with around $2000 for the trip; we would like it to last at least a six or seven nights. I was secretly hoping my parents would be willing to give us some of their frequent flyer miles and hotel points as a wedding gift (that’s what they gave me as a college graduation gift), but it turns out they are not planning to do that. We live in California but would prefer to travel somewhere farther away for our honeymoon. (I have done a fair amount of international travel, so having a local honeymoon seems a bit anticlimactic.)

My parents are traveling to India from Omaha via American Airlines. They have a connection to international flight at Chicago, O’Hare airport. But the duration between these two flights are just 55 mins. Is that ok time to make it to their flight? They are old and are taking wheelchair assistance.

What is the best way to save money when buying domestic airfare at the last minute, (24-hours or less)?

Calling the airline directly? Something like travelocity, orbitz, etc.? Travel agency (guessing not). I’ve heard something about airfare consolidators… don’t know a thing about that.

Do I need a visa to enter the Bahamas if im going on a cruise that’s staying there less than a day?

I know I do need one if im travelling by air, since im not a US citizen, and Im from one of the counties that do require a visa.. But I was wondering whether its different if im staying there less than a day.. Because Mexico does require a visa, unless am on a cruise that stays there less than 24 hours..
