What’s the cheapest pet airline travel – I want to buy a dog from a different state?

I live in Florida, my friend lives in Las Vegas, I want one of her puppies. What’s the best way to have her ship her puppie to me. I know people do this all the time yet I’ve never done it before. The puppy itself is a mutt mix, one I want, but it’s free I only will have to pay for shipping btu don’t know that part, please advise…
The puppy can be shipped with the airlines’ cargo service. Check with airlines operating the route. Make sure the puppy is placed in an IATA standard cage and be provided with food and water during the flight.
If you are flying with the puppy, airlines consider the pet as as luggage. If the puppy won’t exceed your allowable luggage, you won’t pay anything. Check with your airlines to make sure.
