Yes, but you won’t get it any cheaper. The airline incurs as much cost in marketing and admin to you as a travel agent would.

I think the best way to buy airline tickets is through a website like Travelocity or Orbitz (depending on what airline you’re flying). Check them both to get the best deal. If you’re flexible on travel dates and times, try Priceline.com.

you can buy airline tickets online directly from the airlines…just go to the site of whichever airline you want to fly and it will have a section for purchasing tickets. i do this with continental all the time and always get a better deal and also a better selection of flight times

Yup, Airline have their own website that allow you to do online booking on your own…… However, if you book it through site such as travelocity, orbitz etc, they usually charge u $5 fee

  12. AllieG says:

Sure. Just go to the website of the airline you want to use. Keep in mind though that you can sometimes find cheaper fares on sites like expedia or priceline.

Absolutely, but the travel agents can be worthwhile for long excursions. They earn more on hotels and car rentals and don’t make anything from airlines; hence their service fee. But you’re paying for their knowledge and expediency. Pick an airline on your web and plan your flight. Try Southwest, they fly allover and the site will give you an idea of costs so you can compare with other airlines.
    Bon Voyage

Yes. Go directly to the airline’s website, find their 800 number, or purchase at the airport.

  15. Servette says:

yes, of course, you can buy directly from the airlines.
But for international travel, go to a travel agency (NOTt the online ones), they sometimes have unpublished deals thru consolidators. which must sell the unsold seats they already purchased..
btw.: Fees are not that high.

Yes, you can buy tickets at the Airline Counter in the airport, or you can go to that airline’s website and purchase tickets there.

Before I purchase something from one of the online travel companies (travelocity, etc.), I always check the airline’s site. Once or twice, I’ve saved $10-20 by purchasing direct (this happened 2x withAmerican Airlines — http://www.aa.com).
