If Airline fares DOUBLED would you still travel by plane?

Experts are now saying that the lowest airline fares are likely to double in the next few years due to the cost of oil. So instead of $400 to visit my family in Iowa, it will be $800.00.

I love my out of town family but they live 1300 miles away and driving there is alful far. But $800 is alot of money. I suspect I will not be able to visit very often.

Yes, if the distance is really great. It’s a simple case of economics; there’s no close substitute for flying. When I fly I usually have to cross continents, and besides flying, the second best alternative is by sea which would take weeks. In this era people cannot afford to waste time; they have to go to work, school etc. So even if airfares double or triple, most people have no choice but to continue flying. The number of people who travel for vacation will definitely decrease dramatically though.
